Nan7yo hing,
Very agree that it is difficult to choose which DAC. Given that their price range and features varies plus there is no place to perform audit for a fair comparison. I would say my info mainly depends on review from magazine or internet.
Regarding second hand, different from other Hi-Fi components such as pre/power Amp and speaker, DAC more like computer's technology products which seems to depreciate very quick. Unless you are going to replace the DAC every year, the re-sell value for a over 2 year old DAC could go down to around 50% of the original purchase price. Thus I tend to buy DAC with better CP value than go for the top of the line expensive DAC. I would rather save some budget for other component's upgrade.
Upto this moment, I still not make up my mind but seems that Antelope will be out of my budget and I probably have to choose between DAC around 10K range. I think to me thearena will be between Benchmark and Wyred. I think I need to do more homework before make up my mind. I think this is another fun part for Hi-Fi.
Anyway Happy Listening and Have a Happy Chinese New Year!

Form Audio magazine, Esoteric D-07 is a very decent DAC and solid build.
However, I think it is more suitable for CD/SACD transport with AES, Coax, or Optical out. From some review, D-07 USB input have problem decoding file with 88.2 kHz (D-07 support 96kHz but not sure whether support 176 & 192 kHz though). In order to decode 88.2 kHz music file with CAS, you need to add a USB to S/PDIF convertor (like HiFace EVO) to covert to Coax first.

個人覺得東電(eastern electric)果部dac cp值都幾高,
約5k,dac chip用ess 9018,仲可以換膽

Stephen915 hing,
Thanks for your suggestion. Do you have link or website review for "Eastern Electric" DAC?

Thanks stephen915 hing!
From 6moons review, the current version of the Eastern Electric MiniMax's USB input only support 16/44. Hope that the newer version to support Hi-Rez file will come out soon.

冇睇你前面d post,
個人認為除非行異步(asynchronous)usb(或類似既野),
否則dac就算有usb in(support 24/96)都只係折衷方案,
coaxial同aes一般都比usb好聲(視乎器材不同可能有差異),
如我提到既東電dac,亦聽人講過佢既coaxial同aes部分比其他input較好

stephen915 hing,
if just using coax or AES as digital input and no need USB input to decode Hi-Rez file, agree that Eastern Electric and MF DAC should be a very high C/P choice.
However, since I am thinking about using CAS as source to play Hi-Rez music file, USB input to decode 192kHz to me is an important feature. Both Antelope and W4S support async USB and I think these two DAC are key candidates for the time being.
Of course very welcome other ching to have alternate suggestions and comments.
