I am no expert, only started buying from web 1yr ago, but prices can be attractive sometimes with saving of >$50 per BD (already with postage), especially if buy box set which is not always available in HK (MK Tak Fat basement, typical BD shop, or even HMV).
US websites are generally more expensive with high postage rate and up to 3-4 wks of wait!
UK websites (eg. Amazon UK) are less costly (say, $30 per CD/BD) and only takes as little as 4 days to arrive.
Note: UK BD may be Region B Coded (no good for HK Region A players). Most of the time is Region Free, I check with this website (so far so good):
