故事簡介：
揭示戰爭的殘酷無道之餘也不失其苦澀的黑色幽默，題材敏感，曾一度被歐洲多個國家禁映。第一次世界大戰時期，法將軍邁特為一己之榮辱，下令戴斯上尉率領旗下部隊向由德軍佔領的螞蟻山作出有如自殺式的攻擊。然敵我軍力實在懸殊，部份軍團更因對方火力猛烈而拒絕前進，老羞成怒的邁特竟下令炮轟本軍陣營。事件結束後，邁特召開軍事法庭，誓要把不服從的軍人趕盡殺絕。戰前是律師的戴斯上尉挺身而出，公然與上司對抗。為的除了是屬下的性命和軍人的尊嚴，也為正義和公理之伸張。
