I don't know about the superstitious chinese customs. Assuming your BB day time naps and bed time routine are all normal, I know 2 ways that might help:

1) Pink Noise - continuous playing of a constant background noise in her bed room, to relax mind and filter out ppl talking, door closing, even normal volume of TV/ AV movie noise from living room.

This is very scientific and proven by my baby (even myself) and my friend's baby to work. Even iPhone has a pink noise App.
I find "river water sound" most useful. Other Pink Noise may be - "raining sound", "waves", "TV 雪花 noise",....
I bought a few hundred $ iHome speakers for iPhone, starting play when I put baby to bed.
I have mp3 of all of the abovesaid noise, PM me ur email if u want to try.

2) Crystal energy

I am familiar with crystals myself, and bought 孔雀石 to put next to baby bed head.

有冇試過喺小朋友張床放一個有＂滴答＂聲的鬧鐘，小朋友會覺得好似喺媽媽肚裡面咁，會好有安全感，冇咁易半夜喊。
再唔係可以試吓保嬰丹，我都有定時畀我個小朋友食，有安神定驚功效。

cHing I heard about the tomb sound too, there's also a Sheep that has heart beat sound (like inside mommy's tummy). But I think these items are more suitable for new born babies.

There's only one brand of 保嬰丹 right?
