Upgrade Music Quality
I have been using Marantz 6003 for almost 2 years & like to upgrade the music quality.90% spent on blu-ray concerts through Sony 765.Now I have 2 options in mind :1.From Marantz 6003 to the new 7005 or
2.6003 pre-out to Luxman 505u(i.e. frony speakers via Luxman & other speakers via 6003)
My concern on option 2 is when watching movies, are there going to be large differences on the speakers volume (i.e . the front speakers volume will cover the surrounding effcets of other speakers ?) 1. Base on your preference, you need a power amp instead of an integrated amp like Luxman 505u.
2. To increase 3 db of sound pressure , you need double of the output. Take an example, if you have an amp with 100w output, you need to replace another amp with 200w output in order to provide 3 more db of sound pressure.
3. Any time you replace any component in your gears, you need to reset your whole system. Of course the whole system will sound strangely if the amp used for the front channels are much stronger than the other channels. 回復 2# Big_McIn
Thanks for your valuable information.For the power amp., are you suggesting a 2 channel or a 5 channel ? Which brand & model will match my 6003 ?My budget is around $15K. First of all list all your spks. 1. Base on your preference, you need a power amp instead of an integrated amp like Luxman 505u.

而Luxman 505u係100W 駁前置
若果咁駁法，D聲會否好唔協調?
是否大家都200W輸出會比較易較聲?

1. 6003 definitely not powerful enough for Elac 244.
2. Tannoy Arena is a satellite spk system. Whatyou need is just your AV receiver.
3. Your 6" subwoofer is too weak.
So the first step what I have to do is to replace a good quality of 10" ~12"subwoofer like JL or Velodyne DD10.
The second step to add a 2 channel power amp/intergrated amp if you won't replace your center spk. Otherwise opt for a 5 channel power amp.
No need to repalce your AV amp until another new surround mode(or opt for 3D) is available in the market. 我都想問下

買咗505u未。
若未買考慮HK990或者MF M6i， power 就平均啲。 回復 7# Big_McIn
Correct me if I get your advice wrong :
A 2- channel power/int. amp. for the Elac 244
Keeping 6003 AV amp to drive the Tannoy Arena & subwoofer
A 10-12" subwoofer (As my preference is 90% music video, do I really need such a big sub-woofer ? Of course I've heard the"Big is always better" principle.)
Thanks again. I'm also using SR6003, but at first time I'm already plan to use Integrated amp to driven my front speaker since I know SR6003 will not push my front speaker well. suggest ching add an integrated amp to serve 244 via AV-bypass. 7005 really not bad but I doubt it can push 244 well.
