Sound level meter

Just received my group order sound level meter and have some questions in using it. Say when I measure the different channel sound level, should I point the meter towards that channel, say rear left channel then point towards rear left or just pointing towards the front / center speaker ? Thanks .

pointing upright at the ear level. Hope this help.
