ASUS XONAR HDMI 1.3 sound card Deluxe Version
Previously using the captioned sound card with the analougue sub card to decode and send audio to my Yamaha Y1400 AV amp's 7.1 analogue inputs. Now in anticpation of uisng an av pre-amp with HDMI input (and may be only HDMI 1.1 only), I go through the Arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre 3 (TMT) audio setting tab and come up with the following questions:-My TMY only shows HDMI option whereas the help menu/details have HDMI and HDMI pass-through modes. What are the differences. It reads out:-
HDMI - Choose this option if you have an audio connection with an HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) connector.
HDMI pass-through - Provides the lossless 7.1(maximum) channel digital audio output if supported by your sound card.
Note: S/PDIF Pass-through and HDMI Pass-through need the support by your sound card. And to enjoy the lossless digital audio via HDMI Pass-through, you also need a complete set of lossless audio solution, including Hi-Fi speakers, Power Amplifier, etc.
Is it one for bitstream and one for TMT decode into LPCM and which is which?
Why the HDMI Pass-through mode is not available in my TMT (due to not connecting the HDMI output of sound card to a compatabile AV amp?)?
My previous PC set-up is that:-
ATI HD4350 HDMI ----> ASUS XONAR HDAV sound card, then HDMI out of sound card---->HDMI 4x2 spitter, then spitter HDMI out to Pioneer Palsma while sound card daughter card 7.1 anologue output to Yamaha Y1400vav amp.
Any comments will be greatly appreciated. 點解唔買ati 5xxx 系? Bought the sound card (when it first came out) before ATI5xxx is available.
