    The cable is already shielded. You don't need to put an extra layer of shield on the outside. It sounds more alive without the extra shield.

Not to put on an extra shield. I mean the original internal shield in the cable. From other post, it is mentioned to connect the internal side to socket side, and leave it open on the other end of IEC plug. It is for better EMI and noice absorption.

I have a Belden shielded cable and I replaced the 125v 15A socket with a BS 13A. I found out that the shield is connected to both ends.
