If you don't need the 'Ethernet' function(i.e. sound of TV will travel thru HDMI back to your AV receiver), no need to worry HDMI 1.2, 1.3 or 1.4. Since if your cable is rated Cat.2 at the approved length by HDMI Inc., all current video(including 3D) n audio signal will go thru.

So, HDMI cable will be the last thing you should worry when you upgrade your equipments to 3D.
