Totally agree... thats why I prefer my choice 1)....
i.e. buy a new PC for LX81, and then move the Northwire one to CA640A

My wooden ears... I cant hear the diff... but maybe this is not the truth
And there is a button called "Direct" in 640A panel... dont know this is so called "tone bypass"
