大學求學時便在小酒館演唱，1990-95年更登上百老匯的舞臺演唱音樂劇「悲慘世界」的克莉絲蒂．貝倫，在本輯中以純粹的爵士樂手法演唱當代的通俗音樂經典，將當代爵士樂與舞蹈節奏，以真實樂器與合成樂器的相融合，為六○至九○年代的音樂成功塑型，融入了爵士、世界音樂與電子合成樂，創造小酒館與爵士音樂新局面。
本輯收錄搖滾歌手王子（Prince）的《Thieves In The Temple》，閃耀著憂鬱的藍調風格令人恍惚。披頭四的《Tomorrow Never Knows》則以催眠般的節奏與裝了弱音器的小喇叭激起無限的幻夢。經常被爵士歌手演唱的經典《The Shadow of Your Smile》，她的演唱在輕鬆和緩的搖擺節奏中別有風味，而與David Johansen合唱的《Nite And Day》純正的爵士樂風擺盪在小喇叭的迷離樂聲中，更顯魔力十足，是整張專輯最令人心醉的作品。
