hi C-Hing, I didn't try Elac before.But I tested KEF XQ20 & some other speakers in MK basement with chinese pop songs... here is my personal feeling only...
1) KEF XQ20 bookshelf + Naim CD + Naim amp (dunno model)
- Sound is clean & clear but not very tradition English warm sound style...also, since the bass port is located in the front & they put the speaker at face level, thus, I can feel the bass hit my face.. haha
2) NHT Classic 2 bookshelf + NAIM CD + Naim amp
- Suprisingly, Voice is very cloudy...bass is good & u can feel it around the room... but, not my cup of tea...
3) Focus Audio unknown model... (sales said MSRP $9K / pair) + Naim CD + Naim amp...
- Very musical, warm and smooth sound...like it alot in comparision with 1) & 2)

The sales at the basement shop is very nice. you can go and ask them to try try! :D

Actully, the basement is very crowded...sometimes really hard to test...
