I visited Golden yesterday and want to find a HD media player.I would like to share my thoughts and some info as below:
HD media player has very good value at ~$1000 in viewing HD content.It is also good for those (e.g. kids and elderly) who don't know how to work with a PC.
If you are interested in HD media player (not sure in supporting bitstreaming), you may have a look of these brands:
1. Himedia 300A at ~$800 (the new model 500A should be coming this month)

2. xStreamer at ~$1200

To me, a HTPC is better because I can view/edit photos/videos, play PC games, surf internet, do office work {:6_125:}, etc.It can also deal with new video/audio formats readily.
At present, ATI5750 display card is the cheapest solution to have bitstreaming function for a PC.If you want to have a HTPC, ATI5750 is certainly the best choice now.
