Which connections to have good audio through the AUX-IN of Kef X300A

Surely, the best audio sounds are going by computer through its USB socket.

However, I have found the audio is bad by a i-pod/ iPhoneto the AUX-IN jack by 3.5mm interconnect cable directly .........which connections to have a better audio sounds through its AUX-IN jack?
1/ a good DAC to the AUX-IN jack ?
2/ a amplifier to the AUX-IN jack
3/ a pre-amplifier to the AUX-IN jack

Should be 1.

I used LG V10 mobile phone with a built in DAC, connecting to KEF X300A through a 3.5mm pure silver cable, sound quality is good and similar to using its own DAC.

Previously tried Samsung Note 2 with a standard black 3.5mm cable, sound is disappointing.

that is meaning I need to use a GOOD 3.5mm interconnect cable, right ?

Yes, you can hear the difference obviously compared to standard black interconnect cable.
