電影根據真實故事改編。1984年，中英聯合聲明落實，香港前路迷茫，在時代洪流的洗刷之中，香港第一支華人少年棒球隊 — 沙燕隊成立。沙田沙角邨長大的阿龍（林耀聲）和細威（胡子彤）一個淆底，一個勇武，屋邨難兄難弟，也是band 5 中學同窗。Loser 命運，因盧校長（廖啟智）改寫，為改變壞學生，他成立棒球隊，招攬阿龍細威，激將法、地獄式訓練、十名年青棒球員與香港一同處於躁動不安之時，帶著青春鬱結的沙燕隊眾人，被一場又一場的大敗羞辱過後，一直在放棄與堅持之間徘徊，在一念之間、掙扎之中，他們修煉勇氣、突破自己，戰勝鬱結；在黃金時代中，打出自己的光輝歲月，與香港一同成長。終於，沙燕隊脫胎換骨，迎來與強敵日本水牛隊的終極一戰......
