In the late 1980s, 小美 wrote a book about the people she knew in the HK entertainment industry.She wrote one chapter on working with Sam on writing lyrics.She wrote that words may sound the same, but Sam would check on the words if he is not 100% sure by using an old Chinese dictionary that his father gave him.
Good for Albert Au to mention Sam bringing rock music into mainstream Cantopop.This is always overlooked in the development of Cantopop.Just think, without Sam (and 周華年 Wallace Chow), no Beyond or Tai Chi.
I grown up listening to Sam Hui (and he's still my favorite HK singer), so this brings back good memories.Thank you for sharing.

I have them all and I think Sam does a good job on all of those."Time of the Season" was better than the original by the Zombies, in my opinion.I do wish Sam wrote more his own songs in English though.
