I have a Rel 528 subwoofer, it was quite disappointing initially, bass was fast but lacked body and texture. The subwoofer was intended to integrate with B&W 805, so I wanted something more musical instead of just speed and brute force. I used the following tweaks and each improves the sound by 20%+. It now sounds almost like a new subwoofer.

Neotech 3001
Auralex Subdude
Furutech green fuse

Both fuse and Auralex subdued are very reasonably priced.
