Yes, it is true that US Sony Music has closed its New York mastering studios and is no longer making SACDs in the US.It is also true that US Sony Music does not release SACD anymore on its own.However, US Sony Music is still supporting SACD by licensing the music it owns to be released on SACD by 3rd party companies (such as Mobile Fidelity, Audio Fidelity and Analogue Productions).SACD is also supported in the US by Warner Music and Universal Music.The below new SACDs were just released by Audio Fidelity....music is from US Warner Music (Eric Clapton) and US Sony Music (Blood Sweat & Tears):

Based on the data at sa-cd.net, 2014 will be one of SACD's biggest years, in terms of new releases.2014 will see over 600, maybe even 700, new SACD releases.The 10,000 SACD title mark will be reached in the next month.Of course, sa-cd.net being a Westerners' website, its information on Asian SACDs is not complete (and I don't have the time to enter the information at sa-cd.net).For example, the 70-80 Hong Kong SACDs released in 2014 (so far, see below link) is not at sa-cd.net.
