There is no simple answer one is better than the other.Devil is in the details.
Either way could give you good/bad sound.

PC可以裝audiophile linux,有RTK完全免費的，
可以聽歌用DeadBeef@ALSA,睇戲就用，totem@Plusaudio非常好聲，
自從用過有搖控個D什麼linux MPD,
個人覺得是方便，不過音效未能接受

So far NAS is very noisy (Hardware) and the standard player is not that good.We have customer carried their NAS (Sxxxxxy) and tried in our showroom, not good at all.A notebook or PC installed with Vortexbox (a Linux version designed as media server) performs much better.Personally not recommend using NAS connecting to DAC using USB.

Fully agree.If you do not know Linux, no worry, the easy to set-up version I recommend is Vortexbox.It's free.
Just download the installation image and burn it on a cd.Boot using the CD and install the PC connected to the router using cable, then it is ready to go.Very easy.

請問"NAS is very noisy (Hardware)"是指 electronic noise or mechanical noise!
