《哈比人 – 荒谷魔龍》由金像大導彼德積遜執導，是改編自J.R.R.托爾金經典奇幻文學名著《哈比人歷險記》的《哈比人》電影三部曲的第二章。
《哈比人》電影三部曲發生在彼德積遜與他的製作團隊合力打造的賣座系列《魔戒》故事60年前的中土大陸。比爾博巴金斯繼續他與巫師甘道夫，及由索林橡木盾帶領的十三矮人兵團，重奪孤山和失落的矮人王國伊魯伯的冒險之旅。
他們在這個不思議之旅的開端逃過大難，繼續向著東邊進發。在詭秘的幽暗密林裡，他們遇到換皮人比翁和一大群巨型蜘蛛。他們擺脫了凶險的森林精靈之後，經過長湖鎮，最終抵達了目的地孤山。他們要在那裡正面迎戰比路上任何妖魔還要可怕巨龍史矛革，過程中不僅他們的勇氣，就連彼此之間的友誼和這個旅程的意義都將會面臨考驗。

Warner Brothers Home Entertainment has announced the home video release of Peter Jackson'sThe Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug this April. The film will be made available on Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack (Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD/Digital HD), Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack (Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD/Digital HD), Blu-ray Combo Pack (Blu-ray/DVD/Digital HD), 2-disc DVD special edition.
