Humble opinion on Onkyo 5010 + Dali Ikon 6 + JL Audio FS110
Greeting,Tried for around a week and would like to share my humble opinion about sound quality of the following setup
My Home Theater Setup
For Movie
Overall speaking, the sound is very satisfactory. It come with a warm, smooth and 'thick' middle sound. The high is silky smooth without much harsh... but , lack of some crystal clear which lead me to feel the excitement of the movie. e.g. when watching the segment from Kill Bill Vol.1 (the fight between the Bride and the young japanese school girl in the green leaf house), the sound seem to be a bit less exciting than my previous setup (a pioneer LX83 + Klipsch RF62) although the dialogue and music score does improve in its smoothness.
For deep base, JL Audio + Onkyo 5010 give me a very detail deep base resolution and it go really deep which sometime could only 'feel' the deep base and not 'hearing' it.
the 11.2 experience
It's really a bit waste if I do not try out the 11.2 config offer by the Onkyo 5010. I do so by using my stereo MusicHall integrated amp to drive my aging Energy XLR speakers.
The end-result, as expected, give me an extended surround sound stage, especially on the 2 far left/right side. The result is more obvious during the music score of the movie . e.g. in the opening sequence of Star War Episode III, I never had heard it being played so well, so engaged and so wide before. For surround panning effect, it give me a clearer and more directional effect which is most welcome when watching those action filled movie e.g. during the first battle scene in Battleship, those alien 'bomb' hitting the US ship and the anti-missile gun effect sound very directional and exciting.
For Music
I use my Audiolab MDAC as source to playback some up sampling file created from my ripped CD files + Weiss Saracon to utilize the mdac 24/96 decoding capability. The end result is good, and yet, not perfect. The Dali ribbon treble again contribute to a very sweet and 'air' moving high and sweet female vocal. However, the lack of bass also mean the music result in lack of 'punching' when listening to rock. Thank to JL Audio high resolution in deep base, it do can help to improve that area. The harshness and thin / dry sound of the mid which I experienced from the Klipsch + Pioneer setup completely gone and this setup allow me to have a pro-longed listening without feeling fatigue.
Just my humble opinion which want to share with all nice ching here in 76 forum. Very good report. Thanks. Thank... Just try to share more.. But seem better to learn typing Chinese NICE SHARING Good report! Nice and objective 本帖最後由 nicknick 於 2012-9-19 21:11 編輯

I like Onkyo with Dali Ikon combination (see my signature).
You've used them for just a week and feel the sound "warm, smooth and 'thick' middle sound" somehow surprise me, since Dali Ikon speaker need very long time to exercise the units, especially the bass unit, before that it sound thin and too much treble (well, air-ly also, but may be improved for newly Ikon 6 mk2). So it's true that you feel it lack of bass, in fact Dali has fantastic treble and very good bass as well as mid-range voice, provided that you fully exercise all the speaker units, most likely that need months to years, not weeks.
Enjoy, and don't give up! {:1_351:} 回復 6# nicknick
Thank... in fact, I felt it 'warm' compare to my previous setup (Pioneer + Klipsch).. ha.. maybe that setup is somewhat too 'cold' and 'harsh'....
In fact, the longer time I spend with my new setup, the more I love it... every little detail of the sound could be heard clearly and the dynamic is becoming better and better... vocal is getting sweeter. Could u share more your setup ? Wouldu turn on the Audyssey ?Do u use dynamic EQ? I found that using Audyssey gives u very powerful sound and bass. But the mid and high are overwhelmed by the bass and therefore lacks of details. But if i turn it off, the sound is very plain.
Can u give some advice ?
